It's Birthday Time!

The weekend's here and I'm turning a year old. Hmm.. Wrong tense. I have turned a year older. Doesn't feel any different though. Feels better in some way. Though last night seemed a bit odd. :P Sitting at home, watching movies, and yapping away to glory with friends at 12 in the night! I remember how the entire idea of celebrating a birthday used to seem fruitless and pointless to me some years ago, but now I guess I understand and even cherish this idea of celebrating oneself and celebrating time with friends. What I love is that it gives us an opportunity to talk and catch up with friends and that's precisely what happened! I had a great conversation with a friend of mine, Riddhi from Delhi and we spoke about so many things!! For nearly 2 hours and I was like, wow, that's something! It feels great to be loved, appreciated, and wished by so many friends, relatives and people! I'm super thrilled! In celebration plans, party at home with friends for 2 nights! :)

Radio Love

The last time I was in love with the radio was when it had boomed around 5 years ago with a number of new channels coming on air! I can still recall being constantly tuned into Jaggu and Tarana's morning show on Go92.5, Savio on the College Radio and of course Malini in the evening show... For now, I'm hooked on Meow 104.8 FM! and there are two beautiful reasons for this! One is my vivacious friend Sameepa who has recently joined them as a RJ! She hosted her first show today, called MeriMeow during 8 - 10 pm on 104.8 FM and I am super proud of her! The whole thing with listening to this channel when she started competing for the RJ Host Hunt and all of us used to tune in to listen to her... The second reason is another RJ Ajay... I happened to listen to his show Meow Masti during 10 pm - 1 am and I was floored. By his voice, his casual conversational chatting, and his prompt response to emails! By now, I'm completely hooked on to the shows and the channel in the evenings! O

Personalisation in this Call-Centric World

How many times in the day do you call up a service provide only to routed through the IVR? How does that make you feel? The agonizing wait for a human to come online... Today, everything requires to be automated to make it cost-effective for the providers. Be it your telecom service providers, your banks, your take-away, your computer / IT related issues, everything is routed through an IVR, and as a last resort, you are guided to the Customer Service Executive / Phone Banking Officers who shall be "happy to help you". Yes, at times, it helps to have an automated system because it ensures that no matter who picks up the call, you're serviced the same. For example, if I want the number of an office / a restaurant and I call up JustDial.com, I don't care WHO picks up my call, because I get the number smsed to me just the same! However, when I call up Barclays or any bank regarding a query, I have to patiently explain the entire case history, background, service request

Flight into the sky

As I stand before you today, Birds of a kind; together, Ruffling our wings, In anticipation of flight, The moments that we’ve shared, The times that we’ve spent, All making us, who we are, To realize the finality of it all, To stand alone, To stand tall, We take our first step, Into the horizons beyond, And face the world that is, Beckoning for us to belong, We wait, we think, we decide, And raise our hands up in the sky, And take off into the wind, Only to rise, only to win, Struggles and hardships we will face, But what’s success without that pain, We will win, we will fly, Our dreams and aspirations in the sky

Technical Barriers to Effective Communication!

I am feeling on the top of world, not that generally I don't feel special, but today was a different high! :) After ages, I was up against the P.C. with all my brawn, it was later when i began to use my brain, did things really work! For the ones in the dark, I was trying to install a web cam and get my headphones with the mic in it to work! Right from fiddling with the speakers, the volume control options, the bloody control panel, to making a thousand (5) test calls, and asking friends to become guinea pigs to help me in the effort, to finally hearing my own voice! Then to search for the product id (webcam), didn't have the installation cd, so had to google for the driver online, then to download and set up, and then find the right controls on programme to see image clearly, to finally being able to see me! :) what a high, what a beautiful feeling, not because i can see me or hear me, but because i know someone else will be! I feel like i'm on the top of the world right n

Rhythms...

You step into a space lush in greenery, at once you sense the calm, the noise fades out and so does the crowd, and you're left with you and your heart... the fluttering wings of the little flies, that fly in spirals rhythmically, the rustling leaves in tandem with the wind, almost flirtatious and teasing around, the soft gait of people's footsteps, and silence becomes a pleasant sound, unlike the pregnant tense atmosphere, here it's more like a soothing sound, you're thinking, feeling and expressing, when you realise that's all you ever needed, an assurance that you are you, and things are just meant to be...
