Cascading Thoughts

Under the Deep blue sky,
I wondered why is it so high?

The acme, the pinnacle, the horizon, the hope,
Of something beyond me, making me rise

Rise as high as the bird which chirps,
I wonder what it sees, feels and if it can smile like me!

Flapping its wings, away it flies unto new territories,
Growing, moving, freely it transcends all my boundaries

Mystical is this nature,
Gave me a mind but nevertheless I wish, I had wings or just fins,

The mind that imitates and attempts to recreate, the fins by ships and wings by flights,
Yet never seems to touch the true heights!

In the game of imitation and changing perspectives,
It seems like humanity has lost its essence.....

A struggle not to be who you are, but what someone else is,
An eternal battle that will only lead to self destruction,

What is the eternal truth,
What is the real meaning of life,
What is humanity all about
Is this all what the mortals think about?

Searching for the light, that brightens up every day,
That belief that gets you through every day,
It's not about trying, or even about searching,
Is being who you are, such an unreality?
A simple truth of life, a simple belief of self,
Is the essence of my self!

Clarity is my light,
Brightens my mind,
But tell me my friend,
When on a cloudy day,
The light is nothing but a mere spot,
Confusion reins all around me,
Losing self belief,
I search and try to find what I’ve lost,
When all the while I don’t know what it is,
and stand staring at the gloomy day,
Wondering what it is that the 'I' stands for!!

That my friend is the light, the “I” is whom you've lost,
Yourself, your belief, your life,
Is yours to make and not for others to decide,
The light is within, the belief that reins all your strengths,
The weaknesses that you will clear, the success that you will steer,
The gloominess around you is just a scene then,
For you know yourself and your being is pure then,
No contradictions or inhibitions to bind you down,
A lucid perception of everything around,
No motto, no plan, no steps to follow,
A path you tread, with only your heart to follow!

Mystical nature... unfulfilled desires,
King or pauper,
Slave or master,
Optimistic or pessimistic,
These are just terms,
What makes you stand out as a person,
Is Self Belief,
So all we need to do to be is...
To be.

- For the first time, I have written a poem with someone, one of my friends, ADK, came up with this idea, our thoughts differ, our expressions differ, the product is an interesting symphony, though incongrous at points, I like the flow that is.

Crash Landing on You - Netflix K-Drama Review

I think all of us remember our first love, we remember what it felt like to have our hearts beat that much faster, the butterflies in our stomach, the obsessing about the words we spoke or didn't speak, and other million details that come along with it. Watching a romantic comedy is supposed to evoke some bit of those memories and just fill you up in this warm, fuzzy feeling that feels like a comforting bear hug (if you like hugs!). A while back I was reading this article about the dearth of good romantic comedies nowadays and it's true, when was the last good romantic comedy you saw? To me the evergreen You've Got Mail, Kate & Leopold, Notting Hill, Sleepless in Seattle are still the classics (yes, I think I crushed on Meg Ryan a lot!). In Hindi movies, I know this divides a lot of people, but I do genuinely think Sonam Kapoor has figured this out. I absolutely loved her Khoobsurat with Fawad Khan. I thought it was funny, contemporary and their chemistry was left me...

Karthik Calling Karthik

After having been completely enamored and in love with the song "Uff Teri Adaa" I couldn't wait to watch the movie finally. The end emotion being, a decent watch, but could've been much better. The movie begins with a very stereotypical life of a guy (Farhaan) who's just not got anything going for him, from a landlord who's hounding him for money, to a boss who's blaming him for everything that goes wrong, to the hot co-worker (Deepika) who just doesn't know of his existence at all! The change that comes into his life, is a call, at 5 am each day, by a man who claims to be "Karthik" himself who guides him to becoming the man that he is. And voila, suddenly, the real "Karthik" begins to stand up for himself, asserts himself in front of his boss, and manages to strike conversation (a rather witty one) with Deepika too! Sitting in the audience, you literally feel like whistling and hooting when you see him walk down the corridor of his...

Hum Tum aur Ghost Review!

There are some movies where you should just choose to leave your head behind and see only the movie. This movie, Hum Tum aur Ghost, is somewhat similar. The plot is fairly simple, you have Arshad Warsi, playing Armaan, a fashion photographer who's a heavy drinker, assisted by a gorgeous Sandhya Mridul, playing Mini, in love with Dia Mirza, playing Ghehna, who's supposed to be the editor of Cosmopolitan (and is not seen under pressure, is not hyper fashion conscious, or busy at all!). That said, you have an entire entourage of "ghosts" who are following Armaan, because he has the "gift" to see, and hear them. Similar to the Sixth Sense, each of them have died having something unfinished and need help from him to complete that deed so that they can move on to heaven... It's interspersed with some comic dialogues, and some great acting esp. by Boman Irani, and Sandhya Mridul. Arshad Warsi fails to evoke the right sentiment of pity, warmth, and affection in ...
