Gay exuberance, joie de vivre, and lots of fresh energy! :)
A fun romantic comedy, with a lot of natural acting and chemistry between the two actors on screen..
Simple enough storyline, well depicted mostly.. the only negative aspect were the songs.. Only two of them were slightly acceptable, hummable.. but the rest were a complete misfit. The voice of the singer was utterly unsuitable for Shahid and the beats were complete disco beats which just didn't gel with the ambience and context of the scene, I mean imagine, Shahid's been asked to sing a song in front of her entire (huge) family and he starts singing a song (the name of which i've already forgotten and had to google to find, and the name's hilarious! nagada nagada!! :) ) and this song is bhangra mix with disco beats.. i'm sure it's popular in the discos already, who knows!
nevertheless, the characters were pretty well etched, dialogues were easy flowing and quite casual, scenes and picturisations were fairly well mingled, although there were a few scenes that irked me.. :) there was this one scene where they're travelling in a car from one station to another, and shahid takes the wheel (the cab driver being far too slow) the cliche, whether purposely done or not, i'm not sure, was that this was shot in a studio... the typical olden time thing, show only the car moving from side to side, with scenes moving in the background and sound playing! and what's worse, they even used miniature models for all the train and car sequences at that point of time!! really poor decision, cause it's definitely not believable that it was meant to be a spoof, and it was very poorly done, it was that appalling obvious! :)
i particularly enjoyed a few shots of them dancing in the rain, some lovely sunset & sunrise shots with trees in the foreground, jumping off a ramp into the lake, her running on the station, and their conversation in the moonlight, shadows playing on the terrace of her huge home in Bhatinda, Punjab. :)
Her name was Geet, and contrary to expectation, there wasn't even one song in which she sung! at least i'm unable to recollect any! :)
So if you want to enjoy yourself for 2 1/2 hours with a romantic comedy, you could definitely go for this! :)
